I was so happy that I’d finished this, that I forgot to post it on Friday! This is the piece I entered into the competition ‘Picturing Time’ and also links to one of my NMP projects called ‘Type of Wisdom’, which is a series of typographic posters in the style of old American signage, and all hand drawn with elements on Photoshop for creating background gradients and cleaning up the drawing if needed. I’m doing this to progress with showing different ways of presenting typography with imagery that fits the subject matter, and I plan to find the best outcome I can. You can see that I was doing this through the masses of notes I have within my sketchbook for creating this one poster! It did have to make sense though to something to do with time, so I’m glad I put the effort into creating this.

I think I finally realise that this is my favourite of the colours I chose for this design. Yellow makes a fellow mellow.

Here’s some more building love inspo of the architecture of Valencia, but this time it’s snuggly, neatly and aesthetically jam packed into a sexy motion-picture camera with the ferris wheel placed on top, aka the cherry. I love a carefully thought out, smart design.

There’s some more great stuff from this Valencia based design studio here

The Best Part have made some smart posters, and these are amongst them. They are calle Fortune Posters, that were actually hand picked phrases taken from real fortune cookies.
I see it as more than this though. I believe that if you have one of these on your wall, and you see it everyday, then you will start to believe it, and in time it will happen for you. However, if you don’t believe anything like that could ever happen, possibly not. If you do, or just like the words then instead of it being in fortune cookie and throwing it away after you take it out of the back pocket of your jeans, with this you can have forever on your wall, for you to look at everyday, and maybe it’ll be true one day!
Love the idea more than the design though, it’s a bit to plain, or not plain enough? Just the type and designs don’t do it for me, apart from “the clouds will soon part”. I’d still have one though. Waste not, and that.
